    In order to create a part of desired shape, the sheet metal is required to be cut. If the amount of sheet metal to be cut is small, then it is done using hand shears. On the other hand, if large volume is to be cut, then advanced shear machines are employed to do the job.

  2. Shrinking:

    This technique is further classified into three types, which are:

  • Heat Shrinking:

    In this method, an overstretched area of metal is heated at high temperature until it gets red hot. As the metal cools, it shrinks.

  • Tucking Metal:

    As the name suggests, in this method, the metal is forced in a crevice, and bunched by hammer. A tucking fork is used to fold the metal over the edges.

  • Shrinker:

    This is a tool featuring moving jaws that are textured. The sheet metal is grasped by the jaws and then forced it tightly together. This reduces the marring on the metal.

  1. Stretching:

    In this technique, the sheet metal is stretched and bent simultaneously on a die. This helps in forming large contoured parts from the metal. This technique can be carried out using any of the following:

  1. Metal Fusion:

    As the name suggests, this technique is used to join different metal pieces together to form an end product. It is done with the help of welding the pieces of metal. Metal fusion is further classified into metal riveting, TIG welding, MIG welding, Oxy Acetylene Welding, and so on.
