What are the Types of Pipe and Tube Notchers?

We provide the following types of notchers, which enable easy pipe and tube fabrication:

90 Degree Notchers: These notchers are used for a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous pipe and tube sections, which need to be welded at 90 degrees.
Hole Saw Pipe and Tube Notchers: The notchers of this type use hole saws, while creating tubes and pipes for frame building and roll cages. The notchers available with us are well-known for their flexibility, durable construction, and economical pricing. These notchers enable users to create up to 60-80 notches in mild steel per hole saw cutter.
Vent Notchers: These tools are used for making weep or vent notches in round or square workpieces for drainage, or for relieving pressures created while welding the tubes.
Abrasive Tube Notchers: The tube notcher is named so, because these use a 4ʺ wide abrasive grinding belt for production coping of pipes and tubes.

How to Operate a Pipe Tubing Notcher?

The use of the pipe tubing notcher includes two main activities, i.e.; mounting the tube notcher and the actual operation. The following steps must be taken to ensure the efficient operation of the pipe tubing notcher.

Mounting the Pipe and Tube Notcher:

To set the tube and pipe notching tool, follow the steps listed below.

If you are mounting the notcher on the benchtop, hand drill, or a press drill, fit the tri-flat sections in the chuck. Ensure that each shaft flat is interlocking with chuck points.
Check the motion of the press spindle for friction-less up and down movement.

Notes:

Check for the flatness of the tabletop.
The table must have a secure footing.
Ensure that the shaft is center-aligned to the chuck.

Operating the Pipe and Tube Notcher:

Once mounted, follow the below-mentioned steps to operate the pipe tube notcher.

Determine the notching angle to make a notch in the metal pipe or a tube. Adjust the fish-mouth notching saw to the determined angle.
Slightly loosen the three-lock bolts and ensure the angle of tube or pipe set according to the determined notching angle.
Place the pipe or tube at the edge of the V-notch using a curved part of the clamping hoop. Then tighten it using a T-handle.
Ensure that the V-notcher is placed at the end or pre-cut section or marking. Then remove the locking pin and tighten the saw to the arbor carrier.
Set the speed between 250 rpm and 500 rpm according to the depth of notch and if hand press is used, keep the variable speed low. Then trigger the drill press action to form a notch on a metal tube or a pipe.
